Computer Technician –
Job Description
A Computer Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs computer hardware, software, and network systems. They provide technical support to employees or customers and ensure that computer systems run smoothly and securely.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Hardware Installation & Repair
Install, configure, and upgrade computer systems and components
Diagnose and repair hardware issues (CPU, motherboard, RAM, hard drive, etc.)
Set up printers, scanners, and peripheral devices
Replace faulty parts and perform regular maintenance
2. Software Setup & Troubleshooting
Install and update operating systems and software applications
Fix software errors, crashes, or system performance issues
Remove malwa and ensure system security
Configure user accounts and system settings
3. Network Support
Set up and troubleshoot basic networks (LAN/ WiFi)
Connect computers to networks, printers, and servers
Resolve internet or connectivity issues
Work with IT team for network upgrades
4. Technical Support
Provide on-site or remote support to employe
Respond to IT support tickets and resolve issues promptly
Guide users on basic troubleshooting and best practices
5. System Maintenance
Perform routine system checks and backups
Monitor system performance and security alerts
Maintain inventory of hardware, tools, and parts
6. Doentation
Keep records of repairs, installations, and configurations
Update asset logs and maintenance reports
Doent solutions for repeated issues
Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Basic networking knowledge
Ability to work under pressure
Good communication and customer-service skills
Time management and teamwork
