JOB SUMMARY:
- Day Surgery Nurse directs and manages nursing care in the day surgery unit.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
1.) Competently and accurately assesses patients and identifies actual and potential nursing diagnos care needs.
2.) Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
3.) Observes, records, and reports changes in patients’ condition in the patient’s medical records.
4.) Assist and support physicians as required during treatments, procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
5.) Accurately doents observations, results, diagnosis, treatment and care plans accurately in the patient medical record.
6.) Under supervision of day surgery head nurse, performs duties as required:
7.) Patient admission, screening and pre-operative preparation.
8.) Assist Doctors with treatment in the procedure room competently.
9.) Safe handling and management of specimens, medications, antibiotics and blood products (where applicable)
10.) Assist in the day to day activities of the day surgery as require, performs timely and accurate doentation of patient conditions in accordance with the department policies and procedures
11.) Provide safe and effective recovery care to patients.
12.) Patient discharge - assessment of readiness and issue of post-operative instructions and medications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
1.) Must demonstrate a clear understanding of clinical risk.
2.) Strong communication skills.
3.) Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
4.) Ability to lead and motivate a team
5.) Must be flexible and function well under demanding conditions.
6.) Basic computer knowledge.
Education/Licensure:
1.) Bachelor is Degree in Nursing.
2.) Current Nursing Licensure in the Kingdom.
3.) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate.
4.) Current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of Two (2) years’ experience as a staff nurse in medium size center or center.
