Removing debris from the work site and disposing of it properly
Inspecting scaffolding to determine if repairs are needed
Installing new scaffolding components such as posts, brackets, boards, or brackets to replace damaged parts of the scaffold
Installing scaffolding on construction sites using hand tools such as hammers, drills, and saws
Reading blueprints and other instructions to determine how to assemble scaffolding in the proper configuration
Making sure that scaffolding is set up properly and anchored securely to prevent injuries to workers or damage to materials
Installing scaffolding on new construction sites or repairing existing scaffolding
Inspecting scaffolds for defects such as loose bolts or damaged boards
Maintaining records of work performed on scaffolds, including inspection dates and any repairs that were made
Education: Entry-level scaffold helpers typically need only a high school diploma or GED. Some scaffold helpers may have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction or building trades. These degrees can help scaffold helpers get a job in their preferred industry and earn a higher salary.
Training & Experience: Scaffold helpers receive on-the-job training from their employers. This training may include learning how to use equipment, safety procedures and how to complete tasks. Training may also include learning how to assist other workers.
