Key duties for all teachers and instructors include:
•To ensure children are safe and well cared for at all times
•To plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons, ensuring that children are actively learning throughout each lesson and that every child makes as much progress as possible
•To ensure effective communication and direct the work of others, as appropriate
•To lead CAS activities, participating and leading staff training and contributing to the establishment and development of the school community
•To comply with our agreed policies and Aquila Ways
•To actively engage with our school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community and marketing activities to make The Aquila School the school of choice for our community.
•To actively participate in the performance management process of self and others
•To be involved in improving learning across the school as a subject leader
Key duties for this role:
•Determining ability and skill level before setting up training programs.
•Developing and implementing training programs that focus on improving technique, stroke placement, speed, and style.
•Teaching brand new swimming styles or strokes.
•Educating swimmers on water safety and providing lifesaving training sessions.
•Using a range of activities to improve water confidence.
•Recording training sessions in order to analyze strokes, techniques, and monitor progress.
•Setting training goals and objectives for teams as well as individual swimmers.
•Teaching and perfecting skills like flips, kicks, body rolls, floating, and breath control.
•Ensuring the pool or training area is clean, well-maintained, and free of hazards.
•Scouting swimmers and preparing teams and individuals for swim meets.
Key requirements:
•High school Diploma / degree / certification in relevant field.
•An accredited lifeguard certificate
•Completed courses in swimming instruction may be required.
•Relevant license or certification will be required.
•CPR and first-aid training certification.
•Excellent lifesaving skills.
•Ability to determine swimming level and analyze techniques.
•Minimum experience of 2 years as a lifeguard / swim coach
•Good knowledge of health and nutrition.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•A positive attitude and willingness to work long hours.
In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school
To be line managed by Head of PE
Hours of work- 7.15 am – 4.00 pm Monday to Thursday, 7.15 am – 12.00 pm on Friday, plus occasional evening and weekend work.
Holidays- as per the school KHDA approved calendar
