Responsibilities
The role of technical sales engineers essentially involves translating and explaining highly complex technical information to customers and clients, focusing on revealing how a product or piece of equipment can solve specific problems
Collaborating with the design, production, engineering, or research and development departments of the company to determine how products and services could be made or modified to suit the needs of the customer
Using technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers the usefulness of the product or service and how it may suit the customer better than competing products
Identifying and establishing new business, organizing sales visits, liaising with existing clients, preparing tenders, proposals and quotations, providing pre-sales and post-sales support, negotiating contracts, terms and conditions
Memorizing technical product specifications, keeping up-to-date with new company products’ industry trends.
Conducting market research and obtaining feedback from clients to improve existing products
Writing reports and liaising with the production team regarding issues, foreseeable problems, and effective solutions.
Develop long-term relationships with clients, through managing and interpreting their requirements
Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and others in a position to understand service requirements
Prepares cost estimates by studying all related customer documents, consulting with engineers, architects, and other professional personnel
Determines improvements by analyzing cost-benefit ratios of equipment, supplies, or service applications in customer environment and engineering or proposing changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and anticipating future legislation
Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed, recommending options and courses of action, and implementing directives.
Develops new accounts by researching and identifying potential leads, soliciting new business, building connections, providing technical information and advice, and preparing quotes
Uses telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries to verify collected information and finalize sales
Requirements:
Strong technical skills, organizational skills, communication and interpersonal skills, analytical skills, Teamworking skills, Sales skills
Knowledge of industrial process and standards;
A willingness to build and maintain positive working relationships and to share information with others;
Bachelors in Engineering or relevant fields
