Job Description

A Fire Fighting and Fire Alarm Technician installs, maintains, and repairs fire alarm and fire suppression systems, ensuring they function properly to protect lives and property. This includes conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and performing necessary repairs on various fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and sprinkler systems. They also play a role in educating building occupants on fire safety procedures and staying updated on relevant codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
Installing, programming, and configuring fire alarm systems, as well as conducting regular maintenance checks and system upgrades.
Inspections and Testing:
Performing routine inspections and tests to ensure fire alarm systems and fire extinguishers are in proper working order and meet safety standards.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Identifying and resolving issues with fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and other fire safety equipment.
Emergency Response:
Responding to emergency calls related to fire alarms and fire suppression systems, providing timely and effective solutions.
Doentation and Reporting:
Keeping accurate records of all inspections, maintenance, and repair work, as well as preparing reports on findings.
Compliance and Training:
Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with relevant fire safety codes and regulations, and providing training to building occupants on fire safety procedures.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree in a related field (e.g., electronic technology) preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in the installation and maintenance of fire alarm and fire suppression systems is essential.
Certifications:
Valid certifications in fire alarm systems and potentially other relevant areas (e.g., fire extinguisher maintenance) are often required.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and best practices is crucial.
Skills:
