Job Description
Overall accountability for vessel voyages such as daily planning, execution and documentation in coordination with all involved parties both internally and externally in accordance with established best practices and company policies.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Daily planning and coordination of voyages, load & discharge operations and stowage plans, vessel movements, cargo transfer operations and other marine related activities. Checking bunker requirement, cargo intakes, itineraries and all other matters having an impact on the respective voyage.
• Good knowledge of Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations and understanding that large part of the job is continuous safe STS coordination including loading & discharging of oil.
• Provide vessel instructions in accordance with the prevailing terms & conditions of the Charter Party and established health & safety policies.
• Coordinate with agents and surveyors and ensure daily follow-up on cargo operations and prospects.
• Calculate bunker fuel requirements and arrange replenishment in accordance with standing instructions and in coordination with the Vessel’s Officers and internal departments such as Procurement & Operations.
• Ensure all required instructions pertaining to cargo documents e.g. Bills of Lading, Manifests, Mate’s Receipts, Permits, Licenses, Vessel Certificates, Insurance are prepared on time. Maintain a filing system to ensure continuous smooth operations.
• Calculate demurrage, detention and dead-freight for the assigned voyages. Conduct vessel performance analysis and preparing vessel and departmental reports by gathering relevant information.
• Notify insurance regarding delivery / re-delivery of vessels. Arrange for security guards for the relevant geographical areas and coordinate additional war risk coverage and / or P&I coverage where required Notify and coordinate any claims with the relevant department.
• Be an effective team player with internal and external stakeholders such as with the vessels, third party owners a technical managers such that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all operational information is entered into the relevant systems in a timely fashion and ensure that adequate records are kept meeting the company’s legal and fiscal obligations.
• Coordinate between all parties to ensure that Ship-to Ship clearances are issued and maintained in a timely manner at all times.
Experience Minimum 2 years work experience as Vessel Operator
Knowledge Sound knowledge of the marine industry including latest market trends, operational procedure, and safety standards.
Familiarity with tanker operations, Tovalop SIRE, IMO regulations and OCIMF and SIGTTO guidelines is a plus
