Job Description

Job Title: Head Waiter
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports to: Restaurant Manager
Job Summary:
The Head Waiter is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the waitstaff during shifts, ensuring a seamless dining experience for all guests. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent customer service, and a thorough understanding of food and beverage service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervision and Coordination:
* Oversee the activities of the waitstaff, including assigning tables, managing breaks, and monitoring performance.
* Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely food delivery and resolve any issues that may arise.
* Manage seating arrangements and reservations to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
* Customer Service:
* Greet and welcome guests in a warm and professional manner.
* Anticipate and address guest needs, ensuring a personalized and memorable dining experience.
* Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly and effectively.
* Provide recommendations on menu items and beverages, highlighting daily specials and promotions.
* Training and Development:
* Train and mentor new waitstaff on service standards, menu knowledge, and customer service skills.
* Conduct regular training sessions to maintain and improve staff knowledge and skills.
* Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to develop the waitstaff's performance.
* Operational Efficiency:
* Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
* Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
* Monitor inventory levels and place orders for supplies as needed.
* Assist with the closing procedures, including cleaning and resetting the dining area.
* Financial Management:
* Monitor and control costs related to food, beverages, and labor expenses.
* Process payments and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
* Assist with the preparation of daily reports and sales analysis.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
* Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
* Must have a valid food handler's certificate.
