The Carpenter / Wood Door Installer is responsible for the installation, adjustment, repair, and maintenance of wooden doors, fire-rated wood doors, frames, hardware, and related accessories in accordance with approved shop drawings, project specifications, and quality standards. The role requires ensuring proper alignment, functionality, and finish while complying with all site safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Install wooden doors, fire-rated wood doors, door frames, and associated accessories.
Read and interpret shop drawings, installation details, and project specifications.
Measure openings and verify dimensions before installation.
Install and secure door frames using approved fixing methods.
Hang door leaves and ensure proper alignment, level, and plumb.
Install door hardware including:
Hinges
Locks
Lever handles
Door closers
Panic hardware
Flush bolts
Door stops
Vision panels (where applicable)
Adjust doors to ensure smooth operation and correct clearances.
Perform trimming and minor modifications to achieve proper fit while maintaining fire-rating requirements.
Seal joints and install intumescent strips and smoke seals where required.
Protect completed installations from damage during subsequent construction activities.
Carry out repairs and replacement of damaged doors or hardware.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area after installation.
Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow.
Report defects, missing materials, or site issues to the supervisor.
Follow project quality control procedures and inspection requirements.
Comply with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
