A garage manager oversees the daily operations, staff, and business performance of an automotive repair or maintenance facility. They manage repair schedules, supervise mechanics, control inventory, and handle customer service to ensure high-quality, safe, and profitable workshop operations
Key Responsibilities
•Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and manage mechanics, technicians, and support staff. Assign daily tasks and monitor workflow.
•Operations & Quality Control: Coordinate repair schedules, inspect completed work, and ensure safety and statutory regulations are met.
•Customer Service: Act as the main contact for clients, explain repair needs, provide cost estimates, and resolve complaints.
•Inventory & Procurement: Monitor spare parts, tools, and supplies. Place orders and manage supplier relationships.
•Financial Administration: Track budgets, manage invoicing, and oversee financial performance.
Requirements & Qualifications
•Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in automotive mechanics, plus prior supervisory or management background.
•Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and garage equipment.
•Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities.
•Education: High school diploma; vocational training or a degree in automotive technology or business management is often preferred.
