Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
1. High-pressure welders shall be qualified in accordance with ASME Section IX and as per additional requirements of ASME B31.1 & ASME B31.3 code of constructions i.e. radiography and mechanical testing.
2. All supplied welders shall be qualified in accordance with ASME Section IX for piping and AWS D1.1 for structural welding in 6G test position as a minimum. a 6GR-qualified position will be an added advantage.
3. Welders shall have hands-on experience in operating all inverter-type, diesel generators, and rectifier-type welding machines. Any intentional tampering with welding machines shall be considered as a violation of Client assets and shall be backcharged.
4. Welders shall have a minimum of 10 years field experience in satisfactory welding of materials like Carbon steels (P1), Stainless steels(P8), High strength Low alloy steels (P5 materials, P11 materials, P22 materials, P91 materials etc.), Dupl Duplex Steels (10H), Nickel Alloys (P41-P49), Super dupl alloys(1OH) etc. used in Power and Desalination plants.
5. Welders should be familiar with the GTAW and SMAW welding process in a Power / Process Industry and should have worked in UAE at least for 2 years. Familiarization of other welding processes like GMAW, FCAW, etc. will be an added advantage.
6. The supplier shall maintain a welder continuity record every six months or as required by international standards and code of construction. The revalidation shall be carried out with supporting doents like NDT reports (preferably RT reports) on regular jobs or by revalidation test as per ASME Section IX or as required by the relevant code of construction.
7. The welder must have a working knowledge of various fabrication aspects i.e. fit-up, bevel preparation, etc. for piping & structural works.
8. The welder should be able to follow all instructions and understand all welding variables as mentioned in the welding procedure specification (WPS) and shall work accordingly.
9. In addition to welding, the welder should be able to carry out brazing, Gas Cutting & Gas Heating jobs. Should be able to speak and understand Hindi or Urdu or basic English. Shall be able to maintain tools and machines issued for the job, understand safety requirements, employ safe working practices, and comply with Client safety rules and regulations.
