Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, configure, and provide ongoing support of Virtual (VMware) Environments (6.0, 6.5 and 6.7), Dell PowerEdge and Cisco UCS Server Infrastructure hosting Enterprise Applications
Work with vendors and other internal teams to plan the implementation of new environment and migration of existing workloads to new setup
Create / manage VM templates for quick deployment of VMs with various Operating Systems
Monitor and optimize the performance of Systems, Virtual Infrastructure and Storage Platforms
Perform periodic software patching and firmware upgrade on all compute components
Diagnose system failures and take corrective action, in effort to ensure continuity of operations
Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure system performance, availability, and security
Work closely with Backup, Storage and Network engineers to ensure overall performance, availability and security.
Create documentation (like run books) for the developed procedures and best practices.
Qualifications
Prior VMware experience in an Enterprise setting (Migration, Implementation, Performance Optimization); managing VMware vSphere (versions 6.x)
Hand on experience on P2V and V2V migration
Experience in managing Cicso Fabric Interconnect, Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS Fabric interconnect I, Rack and blade servers.
Experience on handling firmware and BIOS upgrade on physical servers
Excellent team player and mentor other team members as required. Help other team members to succeed.
Computing environment certification in VMware (VCP-DCV), Cisco (CCNP-DC), Dell (DCS / DC) or similar technology
Knowledge of Storage and backup solutions
Knowledge of Converged and HyperConverged Solutions
