Job Summary:
Marine Electricians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on marine vessels. They ensure that all electrical components and systems meet the required safety standards and operate efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
•Installation:
oInstall electrical systems and components, including wiring, lighting, generators, and distribution panels, on new and existing vessels.
oEnsure that all installations comply with maritime electrical codes and standards.
•Maintenance:
oPerform routine maintenance on electrical systems to ensure they are operating correctly.
oInspect electrical equipment and systems to identify potential issues before they become critical problems.
oReplace or repair faulty components, such as wiring, circuit breakers, and switches.
•Troubleshooting and Repair:
oDiagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment and tools.
oRepair or replace defective components, such as motors, transformers, generators, and control systems.
oWork on navigation and communication systems, ensuring they function correctly and reliably.




•Safety and Compliance:
oAdhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
oStay updated with maritime electrical codes and standards, ensuring all work complies with these regulations.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:
Education:
oHigh school diploma or equivalent.
oCompletion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in marine electrical systems or a related field.
•Experience:
oPrevious experience as an electrician, preferably in a marine environment.
oHands-on experience with electrical systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
•Skills:
oStrong understanding of electrical theory and principles.
oProficiency in using electrical testing equipment and hand tools.
oAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
oExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
oGood communication and interpersonal skills.
•Certifications:
oRelevant certifications, such as a Marine Electrical Certification, may be required.
oValid maritime safety and first aid certifications.
Physical Requirements:
