Job Description

The Pharmacist – Medicinal Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a medicinal warehouse, ensuring the proper storage, handling, and distribution of pharmaceutical products. This role involves managing inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing warehouse processes to maintain the quality and safety of medications.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products.
Monitor inventory levels and manage stock rotation to prevent expirations and shortages.
Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding medication storage and handling.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and implement necessary changes in warehouse practices.
Prepare and submit required doentation and reports to regulatory authorities.
Quality Assurance:

Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the integrity and safety of medications.
Manage and investigate any issues related to medication quality, such as recalls or discrepancies.
Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) for different types of medications.
Logistics and Distribution:

Coordinate the efficient distribution of medications to pharmacies, healthcare facilities, and other designated locations.
Manage logistics and transportation to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
Optimize warehouse layout and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Staff Supervision:

Oversee and train warehouse staff, including pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and development opportunities for team members.
Record Keeping and Doentation:

Maintain accurate records of inventory, transactions, and regulatory compliance.
Ensure proper doentation for incoming and outgoing shipments, including product specifications and lot numbers.
Safety and Security:

Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect staff and ensure safe handling of medications.
Manage security measures to prevent theft, loss, or unauthorized access to medications.
Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in warehouse management.
Stay informed about advancements in warehouse technology and pharmacy practices.
Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.
Licensure: Valid state pharmacy license.
Experience: Previous experience in warehouse management or a similar role is preferred. Experience in pharmacy practice is also advantageous.
Skills: Strong organizational and management skills, attention to detail, proficiency in inventory management systems, and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
Capability to lift and carry medications and supplies as needed, adhering to safety guidelines.
Work Environment:

Typically works in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and conditions.
May require flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, depending on operational needs.
