Job Summary
Aluglass Facade Company LLC is seeking an experienced Project Doent Controller AutoCAD Draftsman to manage project drawings, technical submittals, correspondence and doent-control activities for our aluminium, glass and façade projects.
The candidate must have relevant experience working with an aluminium and glass subcontractor, façade contractor or similar construction company. Strong knowledge of aluminium profiles, glass specifications, façade sections, shop drawings and as-built doentation is essential.
Key Responsibilities – Drafting
Prepare aluminium and glass shop drawings using AutoCAD.
Prepare plans, elevations, sections and detailed drawings for approval and fabrication.
Prepare drawings for aluminium windows, doors, curtain walls, shopfronts, louvres, skylights and related façade works.
Prepare drawings for glass partitions, shower enclosures, balustrades, handrails, canopies, mirrors and other architectural glass works.
Develop typical aluminium sections, connection details, fixing details and interface details.
Select and incorporate the correct aluminium profiles, glass types, hardware, gaskets, accessories, sealants, anchors and brackets.
Prepare fabrication drawings, cutting details and material-related information when required.
Revise shop drawings according to consultant, contractor and client comments.
Coordinate drawings with architectural, structural and MEP requirements.
Check site dimensions and incorporate verified measurements into drawings.
Identify drawing discrepancies, clashes and missing technical information.
Prepare as-built drawings after completing site works.
Prepare 3D presentations and installation details using SketchUp when required.
Coordinate with project engineers, estimators, production teams and site supervisors.
Key Responsibilities – Doent Control
Establish and maintain an organised doent-control system for each project.
Maintain doent registers for drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, inspection requests and project correspondence.
Receive, register, distribute and archive incoming and outgoing doents.
Ensure that only the latest approved drawings and doents are issued to the factory and project sites.
Maintain drawing-revision histories and superseded-doent records.
Prepare and submit shop drawings, material submittals and technical doents through the main contractor’s or consultant’s doent-control system.
Monitor drawing and material-submittal approval status and follow up on pending approvals.
Maintain records of consultant comments and ensure revised submissions are made on time.
Manage RFIs, transmittals, letters, inspection requests and approvals.
Coordinate hard-copy and electronic doent distribution.
Maintain properly named and organised project folders.
Update doent registers and provide weekly reports on outstanding submissions and approvals.
Assist with project schedules, progress updates and doent-submission programmes using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Compile project handover doents, warranties, test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals and as-built drawings.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure the accuracy and traceability of all project records.
Candidate Requirements
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting or a related field.
Minimum three to five years of relevant experience as a Doent Controller Draftsman.
Previous experience with an aluminium and glass subcontractor or façade contractor is essential.
Strong knowledge of aluminium windows, doors, curtain walls, shopfronts and architectural glass systems.
Ability to understand aluminium profile catalogues, system sections and technical manuals.
Good knowledge of glass types, thicknesses, performance requirements and glazing details.
Ability to prepare detailed aluminium and glass shop drawings independently.
Ability to read architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
Good understanding of drawing submissions, approvals, revisions and construction-doent workflows.
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD is mandatory.
An AutoCAD training certificate is required.
Knowledge of SketchUp and 3D modelling is required.
Knowledge of Primavera P6 and project scheduling is preferred.
Certificates in AutoCAD, Primavera P6 and SketchUp will be an advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PDF-editing software.
Experience using Aconex, Procore, Asite, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar doent-management platforms would be an advantage.
Good written and spoken English.
Strong organisational, communication and coordination skills.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
UAE or GCC aluminium and glass industry experience is strongly preferred.
Willingness to visit project sites when required for measurements and coordination.
