JOB DESCRIPTION – ENGINEER (CIVIL)

JOB PURPOSE
The Engineer – Civil is responsible for implementing and maintaining the project's Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems. The role ensures that all civil and building construction works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, standards, method statements, and UAE regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Quality Management
* Implement and maintain the project Quality Management System (QMS).
* Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
* Monitor the quality of civil and building construction works from commencement through completion.
* Establish and maintain quality control procedures and inspection processes.
* Ensure proper implementation of approved Method Statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
2. Inspection & Testing
* Conduct inspections of civil and structural works at various stages of construction.
* Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, and relevant authorities.
* Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs) and ensure timely approvals.
* Monitor testing of concrete, soil, reinforcement, blockwork, waterproofing, and other construction materials.
* Verify that materials used on site comply with approved material submittals and project specifications.
3. Doentation
* Prepare, review, and maintain:
* Quality Control Plans
* Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
* Method Statements
* Material Inspection Requests (MIRs)
* Inspection Requests (IRs)
* Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
* Corrective Action Reports
* Quality Checklists
* Test Reports
* Material Certificates
* Quality Records
* Maintain complete and organized quality doentation for project handover.
4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
* Identify defective or non-conforming works.
* Raise and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
* Coordinate with site teams to determine the root cause of quality issues.
* Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and closed within the required timeframe.
* Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend preventive measures.
5. Site Quality Control
* Conduct regular site inspections and quality surveillance.
* Ensure workmanship meets approved standards and project requirements.
* Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding quality matters.
* Monitor critical construction activities and ensure required inspections are completed before proceeding to the next stage.
6. Consultant & Client Coordination
* Coordinate with consultants and clients for inspections, approvals, and quality-related matters.
* Attend quality meetings and provide updates on outstanding issues.
* Respond to consultant comments and ensure timely closure.
* Assist in project audits and quality inspections.
7. Material Quality Control
* Review material submittals, technical data sheets, certificates, and test reports.
* Verify materials delivered to site against approved specifications and samples.
* Ensure rejected or non-compliant materials are properly identified and controlled.
* Coordinate with procurement and site teams regarding material quality requirements.
8. Final Inspection & Handover
* Coordinate snagging and de-snagging activities.
* Ensure all quality-related comments are closed before project handover.
* Prepare and maintain project Quality Records and handover doentation.
* Assist in preparing the final dossier.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's Degree in **Civil Engineering** from a recognized university.
* Minimum **8–10 years of experience** in within building construction or contracting.
* Strong U construction experience is preferred.
* Experience working with consultants, clients, and major contractors.
* Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, specifications, and testing procedures.
* Knowledge of UAE construction standards and applicable international standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Strong knowledge of procedures and doentation.
* Excellent knowledge of ITPs, Method Statements, MIRs, IRs, NCRs, and quality checklists.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Strong inspection and reporting skills.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
* Ability to manage quality requirements under strict project deadlines.
* Proficiency in MS Office and relevant construction doentation systems.
